Caspian Gull

Larus cachinnans

Above: Adult (Essex, 29 January 2011)

Not a classic 'ponticus' wing pattern, but undoubtedly a Caspian, perhaps of more southern/eastern origin. Note the upper legs are starting to turn green for the spring.
