Larus cachinnans

Spot the Caspian Gull above. Sometimes they're easy; sometimes not! This individual stood out at great distance thanks to the flat overcast light and banked slope on which the group were standing. The above image is a heavy crop of a photograph taken with 400mm lens and 1.4x converter, with the birds about 300 yards away. We eventually drove round and got some rather better close-up pics - see below.
