Mediterranean Gull hybrid?

Larus melanocephalus x ridibundus?

Above: Presumed adult (QE2 Reservoir, Surrey, 27 February 2009)

This intriguing bird displayed the long pointed wings of L. ridibundus, both at rest and noticeably in flight, as well as contrastingly dark dusky grey underwings. The bill was very slim. Other features such as the blackish (not brown) hood extending further down the nape and the bulkier size were indicative of L. melanocephalus.
