Larus argentatus argentatus/argenteus?

Above: Uncertain age, probably Herring Gull (Essex, 07 August 2010)

Most likely the same individual as that seen earlier this year in February at the same site. However, it is now lacking the black primary(ies?) in the right wing. Despite the more adult-looking bill, the eye remains solidly dark.
