Rock Pipit A rather buffy-flushed bird, similar to several others among the otherwise off-white coloured majority of accompanying Rock Pipits. Is there a hint of grey on the side of the head as well? Could this be the first indication of body moult of birds from 'Scandinavian' A. p. littoralis populations? Or is such a buffy flush a regular feature of 'north-western' Rock pipits? Also, is the supercilium behind the eye supportive of littoralis? Compare with this normal-looking Rock Pipit photographed under the same conditions at the same place and time. |
