Pallid Harrier
Circus macrourus

(Above) Irkayya Farm, Qatar, 10 October 2012 (EOS 7D, 300mm f2.8 + 2x Extender)

In the late mornings and early afternoons, the harriers take turns in crashing into the densely foliaged trees. It's a spectacular sight seeing mixed squadrons of Marsh, Pallid and Montagu's Harriers launching themselves at the canopies. I can only presume they are trying to grab a roosting sparrow or one of the other passerines that shelter from the midday heat in the trees.
