Asian Desert Warbler
Sylvia nana

(Above) Sailiyah West Sewage Pond, Qatar, 18 March 2013 (EOS 7D, 300mm f2.8 + 2x Extender)

Once you immerse yourself in the micro-world of these charming warblers, you start to see just how much potential food - and water - is available to them even in these extreme conditions. You also observe the not infrequent tangles these birds get into with the viscious Acacia thorns. I've seen a number of birds get their wings and tails caught, luckily momentarily, on the needle-sharp thorns.
