Buff-bellied Pipit Above: Newhaven Fort, East Sussex (09 October 2011) A first for Sussex (though awaiting BBRC acceptance*). Found on a blustery late afternoon on the south coast. The bird was in view for one minute and forty-five seconds (!) in howling wind, during which time I rattled off a few record shots. Immediately after shooting two bursts, the bird flew west around the cliffs and could not be relocated. *Update 07 Feb 2012: Just received an email from the BBRC Secretary to say it has been accepted! The Rock Pipits below were photographed the following weekend during a vain attempt to relocate the BBP and are shown here for comparison (albeit there was reward in the form of an Isabelline Wheatear five miles along the coast at Crowlink).
